IFSEL is honored to be offering a

Two-Day Social and Emotional Learning Institute for K-12 Educators

in partnership with California Teacher Development Collaborative,

hosted by Curtis School, Los Angeles, CA

This Two-Day Summer Institute will provide teachers the opportunity to explore the research, tools, and practices of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Using experiential and active learning techniques based in research and practice, the institute will help teachers develop a range of skills to support students’ emotional well-being, interpersonal communication skills, and problem-solving skills.

Participants will be grouped by elementary or middle/high school. The Institute will include multiple sessions geared to specific grade levels (elementary or middle/high school), ensuring that participants learn age-appropriate strategies for their students. Be sure to purchase a ticket that corresponds with the grade level you teach.

Participants will develop tools and strategies to:

  • Conduct classes in ways that build capacity for personal reflection, meaningful conversation, ritual and group harmony.
  • Practice skills that engage students in meaningful conversations, personal reflection, and positive group interactions.
  • Use SEL principles to facilitate more powerful academic curriculum design.
  • Apply SEL techniques to improve Advisory, Homeroom, or community meetings.
  • Work with values to build teacher resilience, humanity and creativity.
  • Learn about and practice ways to facilitate student-to-student conflict resolution.

The workshop is ideal for K-12 teachers and administrators, counselors, advisors, and deans.

Please note:
This Institute is organized by CATDC.
All questions regarding registration, logistics or program should be directed to CATDC.

This workshop offers exciting professional and personal renewal through learning experiences that engage your growth mindset and resiliency.  There are opportunities for both new and experienced educators to engage with sound research and time-tested curricula resources, and gain insight through thoughtful discussion, well-designed interactions, and the opportunity for self and group reflection.

Join our workshop if you:

  • Seek personal and professional renewal
  • Seek creative and innovative resources to engage student and educator social and emotional learning
  • Are responsible for implementing a whole-school SEL approach
  • Seek support in developing an integrated and structured approach to building social and emotional competencies across the grades.

What's included:

  • A comprehensive packet of SEL lesson plans, materials and research
  • Healthy breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments each day (accommodation for different dietary needs available)
  • Joining an international network of educators committed to Social and Emotional Learning
