It's Fundamental (Grades 1-12)

This interactive session provides an introduction to the studies and thinking behind incorporating SEL into educational practices including learning and motivation, wellbeing, school climate and relationships.Various approaches, curricular goals and themes will be presented. A framework of guiding principles for instruction, teacher responses, and curricular design will also be shared.

Choice of either session

Path for 1-6 Grade Teachers: IFSEL Toolbox for the Elementary Grades
  • This workshop introduces the foundational SEL tools for students. The core IFSEL sequence of lessons is presented to meet the developmental needs of elementary-aged children. These lessons cover topics such as emotional vocabulary, mindfulness practices, and communication tools.
Path for 5-12 Grade Teachers: Insights and Ideas for Advisory Groups
  • SEL brings a wide and creative lens to view Advisory or homeroom meetings. This session offers the opportunity to consider design ideas for Advisory - goals, role of the Advisor, timing and grouping - as well as a range of engaging and creative activities that are ready-to-use in your advisory or morning meetings.

On Monday, October 15th, our one-day workshop will be hosted by Seattle Country Day School, located just minutes from downtown Seattle. 

The city is accessible via car, private car, bus, and light rail from the airport. The school can be reached via car or private car service (taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc.).

Financial Aid

IFSEL is committed to empowering all educators to attend the Summer Institute and we have Financial Aid programs to support this vision. More information, including the application form can be downloaded here.

CEU Information

Participants in IFSEL Events are eligible for CEU Credits from Dominican University. Participants completing One Day Workshops are eligible for .5 of a credit, or 2.0 Credits for the Complete Fall Series of Four One Day Workshops, or the Summer Institute.

If you are interested in applying, please request the application at the event registration desk. The application and fees are sent directly to Dominican University which administers the process. At this time, IFSEL is not able to provide credits for clinical counseling.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, and respectfully request that if you cannot attend a workshop, please try to find a substitute from your school to take your place.

If you inform us of your need to cancel up to 4 weeks before the workshop date, we will return your fee, minus a $50-per-workshop, per-person processing fee.

Cancellation with less than 4 weeks notice is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another person.

The Institute reserves the right to cancel any program at any time. In that circumstance, a full refund will be made.
