Schools around the world are wondering how to create and then sustain a robust Advisory program that continues to thrive for many years. Building small, connected communities of learners is essential for all students to engage in deep and meaningful education - and never before has this focus on relationships and belonging been so important.

During this four-session online course, participants will gain insights into recommended systems and processes for Advisory, and have the opportunity to populate their Advisory programs with tried and tested, creative and collaborative Advisory activities, that help to build an Advisee’s SEL skillset and nurture community-wide SEL.

IFSEL will also share ideas and examples of what has worked for schools adapting these practices for distance learning

The course is highly experiential and participants will have opportunities to collaborate with fellow attendees.

Each participant or group of participants from the same school will have a 30 minute 1:1 session with a member of the IFSEL team in order to answer any specific questions.

Please note that this Online Course is all inclusive and available as four consecutive Sessions only.

Outcomes of Workshop

  • Design ideas for Advisory (goals, role of the Advisor, timing and grouping, coordination)
  • A series of experiences and rituals that engage meaningful conversations, personal reflection, and positive group interactions among students, including considerations for adapting for Distance Learning
  • Activities that will deepen and promote inter- and intra-personal development, and explore the importance of a structured, but emerging curriculum for Advisory

All Sessions run from 10:00am-12:00pm Pacific, 1:00 - 3:00pm Eastern, 6:00- 8:00pm UK

Sessions will be recorded and shared with participants who are unable to attend a specific session.

Participants in IFSEL Events are eligible for CEU Credits from Dominican University. Participants completing One-Day Workshops are eligible for 0.5 of a credit, Two-Day Workshop Participants receive 1 credit and Four-Day Institute Participants receive 2 credits.

If you are interested in applying, please request the application at the event registration desk. The application and fees are sent directly to Dominican University which administers the process. At this time, IFSEL is not able to provide credits for clinical counseling. Please note that Dominican University charges a fee of $55 per CEU unit.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Registration fees will be refunded at 50% of the registration ticket price paid, less the $50 refund processing cost, if requested in writing by May 16, 2020.

Between May 17, 2020 and June 15, 2020 refunds requested in writing will be granted a credit for the full value of their registration ticket price.

No refunds or credits are available after June 16, 2020.
