IFSEL’s Weekend Workshop, hosted by The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), in collaboration with IS Bangkok, MARIO Education, and Jakarta Intercultural School.
Equitable and sustainable SEL approaches evolve from the intersection of strong foundational practices and innovative and creative application within each school’s culture and context.
This weekend workshop offers educators, administrators, and counselors a range of practical and transferable SEL approaches and tools to activate a Whole Community Approach to SEL.
At the Weekend Workshop participants will:
This creative and experiential two-day workshop offers educators, administrators, counselors and advisors the opportunity to learn how to build classroom practices and school-wide systems that nurture the social and emotional health of all members of the community. Schools that intentionally activate SEL across the community in this way see wide-ranging benefits for emotional and mental health, a growth in the sense of belonging and community, and positive shifts in mindset, engagement and learning.
Workshop Goals:
I work with early years, will I get something out of the Institute?
The Institutes are designed for K-12th grade educators and sessions are offered that meet both age-specific SEL outcomes, as well as K-12 themes. That said, many early years specialists have attended Institutes over the years and have found the experience impactful, and personally and professionally renewing. You can see our Institute Schedule for more information.
How do I know which sessions to choose and when do I select them?
A sample schedule can be found here. The final schedule will be published 6 weeks before the Institutes begin. All sessions have a recommended Grade level indicator on the schedule. There are multiple paths that are options, but no fixed ‘tracks’. You’re welcome to pick any session in which you are interested.
We will email participants one month in advance to ask them to select their session choices.
If I have done an IFSEL online training, will I get something out of an in-person summer Institute? Our in-person Institutes offer comprehensive, experiential, intentionally-designed SEL professional development. The depth and richness of the overall experience is different from our shorter online Workshops. Some elements of our online Workshops are included in the Institute content, but there are always other sessions to choose from at those times.
The most notable benefit of attending the Institute is the element of personal and professional renewal and the ongoing interactions with other educators.
A sample schedule can be found here.
