Katie is a recent graduate with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a focus in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Florida. She is currently pursuing a Clinical Psychology Doctorate degree at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University, with a focus in Child and Adolescent Psychology.
During her undergraduate studies, Katie did research in Applied Behavior Analysis at a local early-intervention autism clinic. This introduction led her to a position as a Registered Behavior Technician at the Florida Autism Center – a division of BlueSprig, where she learned of her love for working with children and finding their betterment through psychology.
Katie’s research in graduate school is currently focused on multilingual children and their learning processes. Her ultimate goal is to become a practicing Clinical Psychologist that is able to help all types of children and adolescents. As Katie comes from a family of Cuban immigrants, helping others from underrepresented backgrounds is very important to her.
She hopes for her time with the Institute of Social and Emotional Learning to teach her more about the different avenues for improving the social and emotional skills of children and how that affects their levels of learning. During her time in this position, she hopes to do her best for the benefit of this company and their role in the lives of children.
During her free time, Katie enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and practicing yoga.
