Chelsea Conwell is The Dean of Culture at Kansas City Girls Preparatory Academy (KCGPA), where she leads the implementation of Social and Emotional Learning and Restorative Justice work. When becoming an Educator, Chelsea wanted to provide spaces for students that she wished she experienced when growing up, like feeling seen and having conversations about real world experiences.
It is Chelsea's mission to ensure that every student feels like KCGPA is a safe space. That emotional safety begins with feeling like they belong. Throughout her life and now in her Education Career she has seen the positive impacts of Social and Emotional Learning on students, adults, and families. Chelsea is honored to receive the Daniel B Sweeny “Leading for SEL” Scholarship and with the gained knowledge hopes to create a school community where SEL is not only present within Pride (advisory time), but in every space.
