Kira is a licensed school counsellor providing counseling services to adolescents, families, and adult individuals in Hong Kong. She currently works as a Secondary School Counsellor at Hong Kong Academy.
Kira is passionate about embedding social and emotional learning (SEL) into curriculum and implementing a proactive counseling programme that empowers young people to have a better understanding of themselves and their relationships with others. Over her years as a School Counselor, she has been a lead on developing the Grade 6-12 advisory program at HKA, providing professional development for teachers on effective SEL teaching practices and designing fun and engaging activities that help teach core SEL standards.
She has extensive experience running middle school counseling groups that center around themes such as gender constructs, body image, friendships, and self-regulation.
Kira completed her MEd and Licensure in School Counseling from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. As a Counsellor, she takes a client-centered approach to her practice, incorporating aspects of Humanistic schools of thought (Person-Centered, Family Systems, Integrative Therapy) along with more pragmatic approaches of Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, She currently lives in Hong Kong with her husband and beautiful baby boy. She is an avid trail runner, loves to hike and cook up delicious meals at home.
