The Institute for Social and Emotional Learning (IFSEL) empowers educators, young people, and parents to transform their schools into caring, inclusive communities. Since 2009, we have designed and led professional development Institutes, Workshops, and Consultations with 7000+ educators, from over 700 schools in the United States and abroad. 

Our small, international team is hiring an SEL Intern to support our work with schools. Over the course of internship, you will work in a collaborative team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of program management and program development of SEL.

Key Responsibilities include: 

Program Development 

  • Provide ideas, experience, and perspective to develop curriculum for students learning SEL.
  • Create slides, lessons, and presentations
  • Create slides, presentations, activities, and more

Program Delivery

  • Provide support during online (and possibly in-person) events, including tech support, and assisting participants.  

Research

  • Conduct research on specific SEL themes/curriculum and issues as required by team

Youth Leadership Council

  • Provide leadership and administrative support to coordinate IFSEL’s Youth Leadership Council. 

Required skills/experience

  • Experience in creating SEL, Wellness, Lifeskils or similar curriculum within the K-12 age range
  • Passion and interest in schools, education and social and emotional learning. 
  • Current student working towards, or recent graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Driven and hard-working
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and/or Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Forms, Calendar, and Drive);
