4-Day Summer SEL Institutes Return in 2022

We are thrilled to announce that during the summer of 2022, IFSEL will once again offer our flagship SEL Institutes IN-PERSON at these locations/dates:

  • June 27-30  - Washington, DC Area
  • July 25-28 - Chicago, IL *limited spots remaining
  • August 1-4 - San Francisco Bay Area

In 2020, we were poised to celebrate IFSEL’s 20th Institute, and, well, we all know what happened. Like schools across the world, IFSEL pivoted and went online. In these past two years, teachers have been on the front lines, re-inventing responding, running marathons instead of sprints!

It’s time to come together with educators from across the world to reflect, heal, collaborate and get ready to rebuild our communities. IFSEL’s whole community approach to Social and Emotional Learning offers the foundation for this important work. The 2022 Summer Institute will provide participants with the resources, networks and renewal needed to meet the 2022-23 school year with strength and joy.

Four days of experiential workshops providing opportunities for collaboration, reflection and renewal

Each Institute brings together K-12 teachers, administrators and counselors from around the world for a 4-day professional development program that builds on evidence based SEL practices and fosters collaboration, reflection and renewal.

The Institute provides participants with inspiration and current research as well as experiential lesson materials. Throughout our time together, IFSEL’s facilitators will demonstrate a unique take on ten distinct educator practices that expand social and emotional learning, inclusivity and well-being.

Our SEL Institutes:

  1. Share core principles and practices for equity-rooted SEL in K-12 schools
  2. Offer experiential practices that spark creativity and renew inspiration for teaching
  3. Help educators cultivate their teaching practices so that a strong sense of humanity and empathy inspires their students to evolve into compassionate leaders and resilient learners
  4. Provide a space for educators to reconnect with joy and purpose through reflection, play and engagement with peers
  5. Explore skills, mindsets and heartsets to nurture community-wide SEL
  6. Strengthen the capacity of  educators  to bring SEL to classrooms, curricula, and systems to transform schools into more inclusive and caring communities

Each 4-Day Institute Provides:

  • Comprehensive binder of developmentally appropriate SEL lesson plans, materials and research.
  • Healthy breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments every day (accommodation for different dietary needs available)
  • Inform an educator's perspective in ways that help spark creativity and renew inspiration for teaching.
  • An international network of educators committed to Social & Emotional Learning
