Cultivating trust and mutual respect ensures that every voice is heard and valued. Recognize that communicating exact emotions can be challenging for individuals, including students.

Leadership Program

Conwell honed her skills through IFSEL’s SEL Leadership Program. Educators often feel overwhelmed when implementing new systems, but Conwell found solace in the program. She shares, "[Implementing new SEL systems] felt isolating, with minimal participation." However, the online Leadership Program connected Conwell not only with SEL professionals but also with educators who are also in the process of implementing SEL throughout their school community. Conwell emphasizes that Social & Emotional Learning is not merely a checkbox; she now possesses the resources to enrich her community.

Daniel B. Sweeney Scholarship

As IFSEL’s 2023-24 Daniel B. Sweeney Scholar, Chelsea Conwell reflects on the significance of the award. Mr. Sweeney, an international SEL leader, was a cherished figure at The Institute for Social and Emotional Learning.
